Changes: BMW M2 Competition

The BMW M2 Competiton was revealed in April 2018 as a replacement for the standard BMW M2. It is powered by the S55B30T0 single scroll twin-turbocharged engine with a carbon fibre strut brace, replacing the standard M2's turbocharged N55B30T0 engine. It is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, or with the 7-speed M DCT gearbox as an option.

Aesthetic wise, the M2 Competition receives several updates such as the new 19-inch lightweight Y-spoke alloy wheels, bigger brake discs with M Sport brake calipers and the M Sport wing mirrors from the F80 M3. It is capable of reaching a top speed of 250 km/h, or 280 km/h with the M-Driver's Package. It also comes with minor updates for its interior, including a carbon fibre trim and a new sport steering wheel from the F80 M3 with "M1" and "M2" driving mode selector buttons. Due to the new engine and cooling systems, the weight of the car became slightly heavier than the standard M2. Three months after its reveal, BMW has commenced the delivery process of the new M2 Competition to their buyers.

DiRT Rally 2.0

The BMW M2 Competition is a Rally GT car in DiRT Rally 2.0, added to the game as a part of Version 1.8 update. It was initially available to all players in Freeplay, Custom Event, Clubs, Multiplayer and Time Trial only, and as a prize for My Team usage after the player set a valid time in any DiRT Rally 2.0 World Championship Qualifier during 2019. As of Version 1.11 the car is now available to purchase through dealership, however the only the M2 Competition obtained through the qualifiers are entitled to free repairs.

Trivia

Despite never being homologated for the FIA's R-GT class, the BMW M2 was actually used in rallying by Australian rally driver Alan Roe at the opening round of the 2018 CAMS Australian Targa Rally Championship held in Northern Tasmania.
