The Car Viewer is a feature in Colin McRae DiRT 2 and DiRT 3.
Description[]
When the player is ready to select their vehicle before a race, or is simply browsing the Garage menu, they are given the option to take a closer look at their chosen vehicle.
Colin McRae DiRT 2[]
The player can simply fly around the stationary vehicle in the garage, and zoom in and out.
DiRT 3[]
When the feature begins, the vehicle will powerslide into view, golden triangular pyramids being kicked up by the tyres as though they are dirt or gravel. The player can then fly around the car to view it from different angles, and also zoom in or out. All while in-game chief mechanic Jack will talk through a short paragraph about the vehicle's features, statistics and victories.
Trivia[]
- There are unused voice lines for the description of the Chevrolet Camaro SS Geiger Compressor, a car that was originally meant to be featured in DiRT 3. It was replaced by the Chevrolet Camaro SSX Concept. The developers never bothered to record new voice lines for the SSX Concept, which is why it doesn't have any information read in the car viewer.
- There are also unused voice lines for three cars that were completely cut from DiRT 3: the Citroën DS3 WRC, Ford Fiesta S2000 and Škoda Fabia S2000. Ravenwest is mentioned in some voice lines as well.
- The Mini Cooper S Gymkhana and the Ford Escort Mk II Ken Block Special have no information read out about them, possibly because these cars were added to the game late in development.
