The career mode of DiRT 4 allows the player to compete in a variety of off-road racing competitions, from local to national to international level.
To progress through each discipline, the player must complete career events to unlock new licences. Retirements and disqualifications do not count and only events that have not been completed before contribute towards progress.
To unlock the Historic Rally, Rallycross and Landrush disciplines the player must complete the number of career events specified on the discipline's menu panel; all career events contribute to these.

The Triple Crown discipline unlocks once the Global Rally Series, Landrush World Series, and FIA World Rallycross Championship have been completed. It includes three extended championships; one for each discipline.
Completing all three Triple Crown championships awards the Subaru Impreza 1995 in its exclusive #4 555 Subaru livery.
