Based on the GE chassis of the Impreza WRX, the Subaru Impreza WRC2008 S14 was built by Prodrive for Subaru World Rally Team for 2008 World Rally Championship season. The car initially going to feature double wishbone rear suspension setup, however Prodrive reverted them back to the original MacPherson struts after the former setup was deemed inferior. The WRC2008 officially debuted on the 2008 Acropolis Rally of Greece, where it scored its first podium with Petter Solberg finished 2nd in the rally. Its second podium was scored by Chris Atkinson at the Rally Finland of the same year, with a 3rd place finish.
Following the widespread economic downturn in the same year, Subaru announced their withdrawal from the WRC, making it the final iteration of Subaru's WRC Impreza.
