Led by Graham Moore, an engineer formerly of Prodrive and chief engineer of Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 RGT project, the Porsche 911 RGT was unveiled as Tuthill Porsche's latest creation in 2014 for their customer racing programme in RGT rally events. The Porsche 911 RGTs are converted from Porsche 997 GT3 Cup racers into rally cars, in compliance to the FIA's RGT regulations.

The Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec is a Rally GT car in DiRT Rally 2.0. It is available to players who have purchased the Day One Edition or Deluxe Edition of the game immediately, or available as a standalone DLC purchase.
