Ken Block purchased a 1978 Mk II Ford Escort in 2009. It was converted from right-hand-drive to left, and was fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle-shift. It is powered by a 275bhp 2.4-litre Millington engine[1]. Block loaned the Escort to Vaughn Gittin Jr. to drive at the Gymkhana Grid event at Irwindale Speedway in 2010; hindered by shock absorber and gearbox issues, he was knocked out in the first round of eliminations[2].
The car resurfaced in 2015 following a "tarmac rally spec" makeover, with an upgraded Series II Millington Diamond 4-cylinder and a custom Kei Miura-designed Rocket Bunny body kit[3].
