Team Repsol Mitsubishi Ralliart entered four Mitsubishi Racing Lancers in the 2009 Dakar Rally, driven by Hiroshi Masuoka, Joan 'Nani' Roma, Luc Alphand, and Stephane Peterhansel. The Racing Lancer is powered by a 2,997cc 24-valve turbodiesel V6, driving all four wheels through a 5-speed sequential Ricardo transmission[1].

Nani Roma would become the only Repsol Mitsubishi driver to get into the top 10 finishers in the Car class, achieving 10th place with a time of 65:38:43, despite an outright victory on Stage 13.
