The Olsbergs MSE Supercar Lite is a single-make rallycross racer built by Swedish team Olsbergs MSE and Turkish outfit Avitas Motorsport (being a direct evolution of Avitas' "Control 2" rally car prototype). It serves as a cost-effective gateway for new, up-and-coming talents looking to further their careers in and out of rallycross.

Unlike Rallycross Supercars, which are derived from production models, the Supercar Lite is built on a wholly unique tubular spaceframe with a composite plastic exterior. Powering the Supercar Lite is a rear-mounted 2,400cc naturally-aspirated Duratec engine, providing 310 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a six-speed, four wheel drive, sequential transmission from Sadev.

53 Lites cars were constructed between 2012 and 2019, and have served as a support category for several series, including the Global Rallycross Championship (2012 - 2017 as GRC Lites), the FIA World Rallycross Championship (2013 - 2019 as RX Lites/RX2), RallyX (from 2014 as Supercar Lites), Americas Rallycross (2018 - 2019 as ARX2) and Nitro Rallycross (from 2021 as NRX Next), Outside of rallycross, they have been used in hillclimb, ice racing, and Race of Champions events.[1][2]

Trivia[]

  • Despite some of its design cues, the Supercar Lites is not related to Ford Fiesta in real life.
  • The Supercar Lites are branded as RX2 in DiRT 4, despite the liveries being taken from the 2016 season (when the category was still known as RX Lites).
