Mark Lovell piloted the Subaru Impreza WRX 2003 for Subaru Rally Team USA in the 2003 SCCA ProRally series. Replacing their production-based cars from previous seasons, this special vehicle was a 2001/2002 WRC chassis modified with a 2003 Impreza front bumper, alongside an increase in power owing to the Open Class regulations.
Tragically, Lovell and co-driver Roger Freeman died after an accident in the first stage of the Oregon Trail Rally 2003. A charitable fund was created in their memories, while their names and the Subaru USA logo were added to the liveries of the factory Imprezas at the next WRC round (Rally Deutschland 2003).[1]
