In their effort for 2017 World Rallycross Championship season, 2-times World RX champion Petter Solberg joint forces with 2016 runner-up Johan Kristoffersson, forming PSRX Volkswagen Sweden in a collaboration with Volkswagen Motorsport, thus led to the creation of the Volkswagen Polo GTI Supercar. Built upon a 2014 Volkswagen Polo R WRC chassis, the Polo GTI Supercar has undergone several modifications to make it viable for rallycross. Powering the car is a revised version of the rallycross engine found in Volkswagen Beetle GRC, capable of putting out 570 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. Another notable aspect of the Polo GTI is its tradition-breaking front- mounted radiator, which is rare in the high-level rallycross competition due to its close contact nature.
