Ernestas Staponkus contested the 2016 FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super 1600-class cars in the Volkswagen Polo S1600, prepared by his team ESmotorsport^[1]. The Polo, as with all Super 1600 cars, is two-wheel drive (FWD) and uses a normally-aspirated 1.6-litre Oreca engine delivering 240bhp to the wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission^[2].
